Working for AusAID is challenging and rewarding. Staff in AusAID are responsible for the delivery of the Government's official aid program and work in many different areas such as managing an aid project for a specific country, or developing aid policy for the Agency.
Working for AusAID gives you a unique, first-hand insight into the international diplomacy issues affecting developing countries. Your role as an AusAID employee could be as diverse as:

• preparing submissions and briefings on international development issues for the minister
• representing AusAID and the Australian Government at international meetings or seminars
• providing policy advice on economic growth, education, environment, gender, governance, health, HIV/AIDS, pandemics, human rights, infrastructure, regional stability, rural development and water
• providing program/project management and support to the regional programs of PNG, South Asia, East Asia, Pacific, Africa and the Middle East
• monitoring aid effectiveness (including impacts and outputs of policies and programs)
• managing relationships with non-government organisations and multilateral organisations such as UNICEF and the World Health Organization
• providing disaster relief support and advice to AusAID officers posted overseas following a humanitarian crisis or disaster
• support the agency in its delivery of the aid program through corporate functions such as human resources, financial management, property management, information services and public affairs
• providing corporate support or program management to one of our field offices around the world.

AusAID staff are employed through one of the following methods:

• Australian Public Service positions at the Head Office in Canberra or at one of our many posts that are located predominantly across the Asia Pacific Region. Please view our current vacancies.
• Overseas based positions, locally engaged under the local labour laws of the country in which the AusAID post is situated. Locally engaged positions are advertised on the DFAT website of the relevant post.
